REPORT ON GREEN RHINOS WORKSHOP
An
educational workshop "Green Rhino”
was conducted by Association for Social and Environmental Development and
supported by Rufford Small Grants, UK. It was held at Ahlcon International
School, Mayur Vihar on 27th January 2016
from 9 am to 2.10 pm. The resource person
was Ms. Diti Mookherjee accompanied with their representatives Ms. Piyali and
Ms. Chandrima. It was attended by Ms. Harprit Manku (Programme coordinator) along with 50
students in the conference hall. Its introductory session was held on 28th
December 2015 and the Green Rhino badges were given to
the students.
The
workshop offered an opportunity to students to explore and work as a team and
bring them together to understand the concept of conservation of nature much
better.
During
the workshop, the students were divided into groups to present their views and
shared their activities under the categories of WHAT, HOW, WHERE, WHEN and WHO. Each group
came with the innovative ideas like sensitizing neighbourhood, societies by
putting up stalls, educating people to use paper bags ,solar energy by
spreading awareness about water and electricity , making banners and posters
and using social networking sites to spread the message . The target to
complete the project is 15th
April 2016.
The
workshop ended with a game called “The Web of Life”. This made students aware
of the Interdependence in Nature. It was an educational, enriching exposure to
the students as they got opportunity to understand the importance of their
Environment.
