WORKSHOP ON DIFFERENTIATED LEARNING

We have all been there...sitting in the classroom of a professional development workshop or in the audience at a conference, listening to someone talk about engaged, student-centred, action-based, personalized, differentiated (and  several other descriptors!) learning. It is a rare treat when we are actually thrown into such learning in those experiences.

When Nivritti and Vani walked in our midst on 9th April, little did we imagine that they had plans for one such activity. It all began with a brief video on climate change followed by a questionnaire to test our previous knowledge. We were given 5 minutes to write answers which were used as a tool to segregate us in different groups. One group was asked to write an essay on climate change, whereas the second group had a team leader who was asked to allot roles to the group members. The third group was actively supported by Vani and was guided to form conclusions on the basis of an article on climate change.

Finally, the resource persons shared their differentiated model lesson to further personalize the learning for everyone present there.

I think this way; we experienced it as a learner and gain tools to use in our classrooms.
